Craftster’s ten year anniversary is this Month. To celebrate they are having a Ten for Tin challenge. Your craft project has to be something made with a tin can. This will be my first challenge with Craftster, and my second ever. I will be making an upcycled tin can organizer.
I am going to make a storage container/planter. This is going to be a plan as I go project. I will show my supplies as we move along.
First I’m going to take gesso and some turquoise colored acrylic paint, and mix it together.
Now dab it on your can, giving your can a rough texture.
Now take some Mod Podge and a piece of burlap. Paint Mod Podge around your can where you want your burlap to stick.
Wrap burlap around your can, then apply a layer of Mod Podge all over your can, including over the burlap. Let dry.
I decided to embellish my upcycled tin can organizer with some little fabric rosettes, and a wire formed flower.
First I dabbed some metal patina to the wire formed flower, and the wire spirals, to give it some color.
With your hot glue gun start gluing your rosettes, wire spirals, and wire flower on top of the burlap on your can.
Now you have a pretty upcycled tin can organizer / storage container.
Or a pretty planter.
Do you have any craft ideas for recycling tin can? If so please share your link below in comments.

What a great tin can upcycle! I love the colour you chose for this and the little rosettes are too cute! I’d use it for my craft table but with a plant inside it looks so nice as well!!!

Thanks Katrin! That is one of my favorite colors, and I think it works great in the craft room. Holds my scissors very nicely.
