This is one of my thrift store finds, a metal Pray sign. Once I got the sign home I decided all it needed was a little paint and some distressing to make it stand out.
Here it is after two coats of Anne Sloans chalk paint, and using the wet distressing technique.
I think it looks much better, but it still needs a little something else. What do you think? Should I distress it a little heavier? What would you do?
This was going to my booth, but when the hubby seen my pray sign makeover he claimed it.
That looks lovely! I like it the way it is, but it would also be nice with a little more distress-ing. 😀

I’m stopping by from finding your post on Treasure Box Tuesday. I am a thrift store shopper and love it when a find can be transformed. I think your piece is very sweet but if you wanted to a little more distressing may add a little more dimension. I just recently painted a pair of nesting tables with chalk paint– my first time using it. I’m a milk paint user. I very much liked the ease of the application and its coverage. Linda this was a marvelous redo. It looks so much better now. The white makes the writing pop and we can really read it now. Before it was hard to make out the writing. I love the distressing on it, it now has loads of character. Did you eventually add more distressing or leave it as it is?
When I bought it I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it, but I knew I couldn’t pass it up. The hubby suggested painting it that color, and he liked it so much he took it and hung it up in the dinning area as soon as it was dry. No I haven’t done anything else since he hung it up. It was going to the craft booth, but not anymore.
Great transformation. You could hardly see the letters before. It looks fabulous.

I pulled a large tray thingy that I was going to take to my booth and decided that I would go ahead and slap some paint on it then paint gather on it. And I haven’t even finished it yet, he has already claimed it, and has a spot picked out for it. LOL
