I made this diy Texas Flag tin can for a pencil holder in our Texas room. I think it turned out really nice if I say so myself (-;
How To Make A Texas Flag Tin Can
First you want to clean your can and get all the sticky gunk off.
Then give your tin can two coats of white paint, letting each coat dry thoroughly.

Once dry draw a line down both sides where you want the navy blue part of your flag.
Add two coats of navy blue acrylic paint letting each coat dry thoroughly.
Now draw a line half way up on the white part of the can starting from one side of the blue all the way around to the other end of the blue.
Paint the lower part of your diy Texas Flag tin can red. Two coats.
Now using a stencil add your star using white acrylic paints.
I then used my antiquing medium to give my Texas flag an aged look.
See how the antiquing medium took the brightness of the white away and aged it.
Next add a coat of Mod Podge to seal and protect.
That’s all there is to it. Now you can add your pens and pencils to your diy Texas Flag Tin Can.

I cannot believe that this was a regular can at one time, something that I wouldn’t think twice about tossing in the trash! I love the way that you’ve interpreted the flag of Texas and it looked good, then you added the aging! Love it! Very cool.

I use to throw mine out as well, now I save some and throw some in recycle bin. There’s so many cute craft ideas using cans, but I’ve kind of got on a Texas flag kick. Maybe because I’m a Texan ;-D But so far I’ve painted a mural, coasters, bucket trash can, picket fence flag, and pencil holder.

Thanks Pili! I love to repurpose tin cans and jars, there free and you can use them for all kinds of things. I’m kind of fond of the Texas Flag and have painted it on lots of things.
