Hi All! Today I am sharing a super easy side table makeover. I can’t believe how easy this makeover was. If it wasn’t for the drying time I could have had it finished in an hour or so. In a previous side table makeover I decoupaged a paper napkin to the top. This one will have two stripes.
Sorry that the pictures aren’t great, but I started it early in the morning before the sun was up. But once I’ve finished with the side table and the suns up hopefully I can get a better photo. Until than I will walk you through the steps for this easy table makeover.
Side Table Makeover
First, I wiped it down to get all the dust off before painting. The table was already primed from an early time, then I never go around to finishing it. Glad I didn’t because it is getting a completely different look then I had planned to give it.
Flipping the table over I first painted the bottom sides and legs of the little table with Waverly Elephant chalk paint.
When that was dry I flipped the table back over right side up, and painted the top, and edges. Giving it two coats.
After letting the paint dry a few hours I then taped off the areas to add two stripes using Waverly White chalk paint. Each stripe received two coats of paint.
Letting the stripes dry 30 minutes or so before very gently peeling off the tape.
Then I let the side table dry another hour before taking it out to the garage and distressing the edges with sandpaper.
After wiping the dust off I took it back inside and gave the top and edges a coat of Mod Podge to seal and protect.
I was going to try a wax, but after some research on how to apply wax, and using is on furniture, I learned that it will have to be reapplied every year, and I didn’t want to do that. So, I went the easy way, Mod Podge.
Once the Mod Podge dried the little side table was ready to go to it’s new place in the home. In one of our bathrooms that’s by the laundry room, where the hubby goes to get ready for the day. Since our master bath isn’t through with it’s renovation. He’s been wanting a small table to put in there to put his things on while getting ready, so he will be surprised when he gets home. He didn’t know I was going to paint the little table. And yes the wall is a greenish color, that will eventually be changed. 😉
My morning of painting was a success. I’m happy how it turned out, and the hubby loved the side table makeover. Now he has a place to put some of his things while getting ready for the day.

Love your stripey table Linda and that you’ve used Mod Podge to seal it instead of wax. We found that wax in a bathroom or humid area sometimes tends to got moldy. Ot=r maybe it’s just the wax I’ve been using? Love the way your purr baby is checking out your handy work in the background. So cute/
Thank you Michelle! I have tried the wax on a couple other small tables, and my rolltop desk. And I like the look just not so much how it feels to the touch. I was going to use it on my kitchen cabinets when I redid them. But I’m glad I used something else more durable. Don’t want to have to redo it any time soon. LOL Yes that is Dakota, she tries to sneak into the photos.
