Our neighbors are moving and we are sad about that. We haven’t know them long, and they are the age of my girls but they’ve been great neighbors. We watch each other’s houses when out of town, I’ve even been over several times to feed and let their fur babies out to potty. They are moving because of their jobs. They are down sizing so they are giving away things and throwing things out. So Far we have gotten a solid oak desk for the hubby when he starts to work from home. A ladder blanket rack (here’s a diy spindle ladder afghan rack), stepping stones, cinder blocks, cement border stones, flowerbed weed fabric, and now this garden hose cart.
When the hubby told be he was going to get the hose holder out of their trash pile. I asked why we have one and don’t need another. Now ours is a cheap plastic one with plastic wheels, and this one is metal with real wheels. A good sturdy one, but I don’t even like the one we have, and don’t use it.
Even after he told me his plans for it I was still skeptical about it. After all I had a wagon for yard work. But now that I’ve seen, and used my new cart I am loving it!
Diy Garden Cart
To make this garden cart he removed the metal spool that held the hose.
Then he attached a board across the top, then attached a sturdy plastic tub with a lid on top of the board using bolts, and washers.
My sweet man made me a garden cart to tote my gardening tools, plants, etc. around our huge yard. He is the best, always thinking of me, and how to make my life easier.
This diy garden cart is so much easier to maneuver around the yard than my wagon. Once I get the wagon loaded it really is heavy, and hard to pull around the yard. Parts of our yard slopes so anything I use is harder to pull around than normal. My new little diy garden cart makes things so much easier when working in the yard.
Do you have a garden cart, and do you have any ideas what I can make out of the leftover hose spool? It doesn’t sit flat or I had thought of a small outside side table.

What a brilliant idea. I need one of those. It’s such a pain in the butt lugging things around the garden and I swear we have one of the hose wheelie things somewhere in the garage too.

Thanks Michelle! It does make things so much easier, and I think it serves a better purpose then holding a water hose. I always hated winding the hose up, and unwinding it. Such a pain!
