I use to have a large garden every year until about six years ago, after my divorce. Since then I’ve moved 3 times, twice with my new hubby.
This year I wanted a garden so bad but I don’t have a tiller anymore, so my sweet man used an attachment that he had for his weed eater and tilled a couple spots for me to plant a few things. Plus we made a small raised bed.
Eventually I will have a larger garden in one spot. We will have to do some tree trimming for more sunshine, and get a tiller.
But for now this will do for my little garden area. The above picture is my green beans, and below is my first crop, hopefully I will get more to freeze.
Below is my tomatoes, squash, and peppers which aren’t doing very well. I did have cucumbers too because I wanted to make some pickles but they drowned during the month long flooding in May. Then the neighbors next door drained their pool and it went right through my garden.
Hopefully they will pull through, but not looking to good. Way too much water and not enough light.
This here is the raised bed with my green onions, and a couple pepper plants.
Guess I really should of waited till we made a better spot )-;

Nice garden. I have a small starter one this year, also but will expand it in the coming years.
One thing, though–I NEVER till any more. It tends to bring up dormant weed seeds. I do raised row gardening. It’s inexpensive, easy (I’m 60), NOTHING is growing in my rows but what I planted there!
The rows don’t flood during periods of heavy rains–though that hasn’t been an issue this year–and they don’t dry out as fast during dry spells–which is what we’ve had so far. (REALLY strange for Western Washington!)
I love it and wished I’d known about this method earlier.
Try it, I think you’ll like it!

Thanks Kathy I may try that. It would be easier on me as I get older, getting up and down isn’t as easy as it use to be. I do have a compost started to help keep weeds out of my garden once it breaks down more.
