Hi All! Today I am going to share another project created out of a piece of cardboard. A Recycled cardboard Valentine’s day hang tag. This hang tag was created out of a piece of cardboard that I removed one of the layers on one side to expose the corrugated part of the cardboard. Like I did the heart on my repurposed Cutting Board décor project.

Diy Recycled Cardboard Valentine’s Day Hang Tag
For starters, I cut out a piece of cardboard the size that I wanted to make my Valentines day hang tag.
Then I removed the top layer off of one side exposing the corrugated part of the cardboard.
And punched a hole at the top center of the tag.
Next, I dry brushed some red on the corrugated side leaving the edges bare.
Wanting to give the tag an aged look I brushed some strong black coffee over the whole top of the tag. Placing some wax paper over top. Then sitting something heavy enough to keep it flat while drying but not heavy enough to squash the hang tag.
Now to make the embellishments for the Valentines day hang tag I will be adding a piece of burlap with Be Mine stenciled on it. I cut the burlap about an inch wider than the tag and used black acrylic paint for stenciling the words.
I used some scrap fabric and aged book pages to cut out different size hearts. The fabric hearts were dipped in the coffee than laid flat to dry.
I also aged a fabric strip to wrap around the tag, and used Mod Podge to hold the fabric strip into a rolled-up position.
Decorating Valentine’s Day Hang Tag
Now it’s time to start putting the recycled cardboard Valentines day hang tag together, using a hot glue gun.
First, I added the stenciled burlap by centering it and wrapping the ends around to the back and adding a dab of hot glue.
Then I started adding the hearts.
Once all the hearts were added the rolled fabric strip was added with a dab of hot glue then wrapping around to the back of the tag and gluing the ends down.
Next, I added the twine for hanging the recycled cardboard Valentine’s day hang tab with the key charm.
The smashed metal button was an afterthought. All I did was hammer it flat and hot glue it on the tag.
That’s it for this easy recycled cardboard Valentine’s day hang tag. What have you been working on for Valentine’s day?

Such a pretty mixed media art Linda. I love how you have aged everything with the coffee. And that cardboard recycle is really genius!

Thank you Mary! Trying to use things I have on hand and not buy anything. Especially with the government shutdown and now another one looming. I miss going thrifting. ):

So many layers of awesomeness Linda. Love the colors, love the texture and love how authentically real the tag is. You can see it was made with love
