Hi all! Today I am sharing some hand-painted light bulb Santa ornaments. So next time you change out a light bulb don’t throw it out. Save those bulbs and make some cute Santa ornaments. These light bulb Santa’s are made from ceiling fan bulbs so they are smaller, but any bulb will work they will just be different shapes and sizes.

Light Bulb Santa Ornaments
Since light bulbs are pretty fragile, I started off by giving the bulbs a coat of Mod Podge.
Once dry they got a coat of white chalk paint.
Since I didn’t have any flesh-colored paint to base coat the light bulb Santa faces I used a few drops of Ivory to one drop of pink.
Next came a base coat of grey for the hair and beard.
Using white acrylic, a fan brush, and a detail brush to add the hair and beard.
For the cheeks use an old paint brush to stipple some rose pink onto the cheeks.
Black paint and the end of a paint brush were used to make the dots for the eyes.
The mustache was made by first base coating the area with grey.
Then go back over that with white paint and a detail brush. Really could have used a finer detail brush for this. But at the moment I don’t have one so for now this will work.
Add a smaller white dot to the eyes with a stylus tool,
and the mouth of each light bulb Santa ornament was added with mauve paint and a stylus tool.
And a red dot for the nose.
Before adding the snow paint, you will need to hot glued some twine to the top of each bulb for hanging the light bulb Santa ornaments.
Next, add the red paint for the Santa hat.
Snow tex paint was used for the hat around the face and the pompom. Which also helps to hold the twine in place for hanging the Santa ornaments.
An old toothbrush and black paint was used to add some spackles to the Santa’s.
Each ornament got two more coats of Mod Podge to help protect them from breaking.
To top off the ornaments by adding some faux greenery, berries, and bells to the top of each ornament.
I made three hand-painted light bulb Santa ornaments and the rest of the light bulb Santa’s will be use for a light bulb Santa garland coming next week.
