Awhile back I posted a picture and a link that I had found on making a birch bark wine bottle vase. Since then I been looking for some birch bark. Since birch trees doesn’t grown here in the south (at least I haven’t found any). I had to look elsewhere. The online craft stores want a fortune for their birch bark. Well I found some on ebay and got a really good deal. So if you want any birch bark for a project you might want to check there first.
My husband and I love to go to Canton’s first Monday (giant flea market/trade day). You can fine a lot of neat stuff there. Last time we went, we bought a cart to carry all our purchases. Now we need drink holders. So I thought that I would make us some unique drink holders. I found a couple of cans large enough to hold our cups, then I covered them with birch bark. (I did save some for my wine bottle vase though).
Some may think I’m crazy for going to the trouble to cover the tin cans. (Why not just use the tin cans). But that’s the crafter in me coming out.
Here are some more ideas for using birch bark covered cans.
