Get into Fall with these easy diy wood pumpkins. Make up several and paint them orange or paint them different colors, add some dots, or even a chevron pattern. Let your imagination go, and have fun!

Supplies Needed For This Project

1 – 4”x4” post cut approximately 5” in length
1 – 4”x4” post cut approximately 8” in length
Cadmium Orange, brown, and burnt umber acrylic paint
Jade patina for metal
2 copper wires cut approximately 10” long
2 wood dowels cut 3” in length
Wood glue
Green twisted paper
Paint brush
Scissors
Pliers
Drill and bit the size of dowels

How To Make Wood Pumpkins

These diy wood pumpkins were made out of 4”x4” wood post. I’m sorry but I got a little ahead of myself and forgot to take my before pictures of the pumpkins.

First drill a hole in the center of each wood post about an inch deep.

Then paint the wood post orange or whatever color that you chose. Next Float the lines on the pumpkins with burnt umber, or another color that ordinates with the color of your pumpkins.

If you want to add some dots or other stenciling, go ahead and add that too at this time.

Paint the end of your dowels brown. Once dry squirt a little glue into the drilled hole and gently hammer the unpainted end of dowel into the hole.

Wrap each end of your wire around your paint brush end to make a spiral. Add the patina to the wire, while it is drying cut a couple pieces of twisted paper where each end is leaf shape.

Tie the twisted paper around the stem of the pumpkin gently, then center your wire on the stem, and use your pliers to tighten so it won’t slide off. This will hold the paper leaves in place as well.

That’s it! These diy wood pumpkins are quick and easy to make, and would look great on a mantle, or as a centerpiece on a table.
