Taking a break from my jewelry making to make a doll bed for my granddaughter for Christmas.
When I asked what she wanted for Christmas, her response was a American girl doll bed. Ok sounds good I will get her the doll bed, not having any clue about American girl doll and accessories.
WOW!!! The American girl doll and accessories cost an arm an a leg. The bed she wants is the day bed with the trundle bed underneath. I believe that one was around $95 plus shipping for that bed, and it doesn't even come with the bedding. That's another $35 or more.
So being the crafty person that am I decided to make that bed myself. (And again I forgot to take pictures of each step). So here's where I'm at so far, un-painted but together.
I still need to do a little sanding, glue some little pull knobs, and a wood embellishment on the back part of the bed. Then I can start painting. She wants it painted white like the picture at the American girl doll website.
I have been debating between using felt on bottom of the bed, or gluing some wood plugs on the bottom of bed for legs, then adding a couple on the trundle part that pulls out to lift that side up some. What do you think?
I will post pictures of the finished bed when completed.
