A while back I ran across an altered art bottle made into a bank with a zipper window on Pinterest. It was the coolest bank! There wasn’t a tutorial, and it didn’t say what was used, but I’m thinking foil. I am going to alter this bottle by using a brown paper bag for the outside.
This altered art bottle zipper bank is going to be a surprise graduation gift for my granddaughter. I am going to fill it up with quarters. She’s is in the 10th grade, so I have a little over two years, that is if she doesn’t graduate early. The bottle is about 18″ tall, do you think I”ll make it?

How To Make Altered Art Bottle Zipper Bank
First off you will need a large bottle, zipper, and glue. I used my jewelry glue, it seemed to bond quite well to the glass.
You will need to glue the zipper a little at a time, because of the awkward turn of the zipper. Let dry thoroughly for each step.
Take a Brown paper bag and tear it into pieces.
Wad your brown paper bag pieces up, to give texture to your bottle.
Starting working around the zipper in small areas at a time, add some Mod Podge.
Then stick a piece of a brown paper bag on top. Add Mod Podge over top of each piece, securing it down smoothly.
Continue working on one side till it’s covered with your brown paper bag pieces. Let dry, then flip over and cover the other side the same way.
Be sure to cover the rim of your bottle, about 3/4″ way down on the inside of the bottle.
Flip the bottle upside down and cover the bottom with your paper pieces.
Add a coat of Mod Podge over the bottom.
Add your top and that’s it. Now you can embellish your bank, or leave it plain, that’s up to you.
I didn’t have enough quarters to fill it up to the zipper window for my picture, so I improvised.
Now you can see the quarters through the zipper window, isn’t that cool?
My granddaughter collects owls, so I embellished the altered art bottle with an owl charm on some black leather cord.
