Don’t you just love Pinterest? You can find just about anything on there, and if your a DIY’er it’s like being in hog heaven. While looking through the ornaments I ran across some easy rag star ornaments made from pipe cleaners and fabric.

These rag star ornaments would not only make great Christmas tree ornaments, but I think they would make super cute gift tags ornament as well.

I didn’t have any pipe cleaners for this project, but I have plenty of wire from my jewelry making stash. I think wire would be a much sturdier material to use when making these easy rag star ornaments or gift tags ornament.

Start off by shaping your star by wrapping it around a star shaped object.

Cut the wire about two inches longer once the star shape is formed.

Wrap the excess wire around the other end without ruining the shape of the star. Use your chain nose pliers to shape the points if needed.

These ornaments would make super cute gift tags! #RagStarOrnaments

Cut your fabric strips about 1/2″ to 3/4″ wide. Start wrapping your fabric around your wire carefully without bending your star out of shape.

Not having any of the double sided print fabric like the original tutorial used. I just made due with what I had and tried to keep the print side up.

When I came to the end of my strips I folded the end over about an inch from the end.

Then cut a little slit in the folded over end, then fold end over of new fabric and cut little slit in it as well.

Stick the cut end of your new fabric strip through the cut end of the other strip then run the tail of your new strip through the slit at the other end and pull all the way through.

Now you just added extra length and can finish wrapping your star.

When you get to the end tie a bow then trim off any excess fabric.  Now you can make more of these easy rag star ornaments for Christmas tree ornaments or to use with your gift wrapping as gift tag ornaments.

If your going to hang these rag star ornaments  on a Christmas tree add a strip of matching fabric to hang it by.

To use as gift tags just attach with matching ribbon.

Now wasn’t these rag star ornaments so easy and cute that you just want to sit down and make a dozen or two more of these rag star ornaments to use as gift tags for all your Christmas wrapping?

Thanks Teri! They are so easy, and fun. Great way to use up some scrap fabric, and would be cute on gifts. Please share once you get yours made.
