Hi all! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and had a happy Memorial Day with the weekend over it’s time to get back into a normal routine. Crafting and blogging! Today I am going to share How to give a wood box the farmhouse style look.

How To Give A Wood Box The Farmhouse Style Look

I picked up this cute little wooden box at Goodwill for $2.99, even though I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it. But it was a good price, and hey it was a box. Who doesn’t love cute little boxes.

When I got on the kick of making Farmhouse signs and my farmhouse tray, and metal sign.

I decided to give the little wooden box The Rustic farmhouse style. Since I was going to use chalk paint all that I needed to do to prep the wooden Box for paint was to wipe it down with the wet soapy rag, rinse, and dry.

First, I remove the little pull knob on the top. Then I gave the little wooden box two coats of white chalk paint inside and out.

Since I was planning on keeping the little box I wanted to be able to use it some way but still have it out to be seen. So, I decided to use it for storing tea bags. With that decided I went about stenciling the word tea on the little box using black chalk paint.

Then I took it outside and sanded the edges, and lightly sanded the sides, and top to give it that distressed rustic charm that I love.

Lastly, I added the little pull knob back on, I was going to switch it out but I think it’s a perfect fit for the little wooden box what do you think?

This box was a very easy project, just some paint and stenciling. My cute little tea bag box now sits next to another one of my thrift store makeovers that I am keeping.

It is a keeper. Would you keep it?

What fun Linda, your farmhouse styled decor pieces are really coming along so beautifully. Isn’t chalk paint just the most amazing thing to use when you want to create a unique look around the house. I love how easy it is to apply without doing all that nasty prep work.

Thank you Michelle! Yes chalk paint is great stuff. The worst part of painting for me is the prepping. So I am loving chalk paint.
