homemade biscotti recipe

The other day I was scrolling through a Linky party at “Fluster Buster“, and ran across this recipe for homemade peppermint & chocolate biscotti.

My husband loves biscotti with his coffee but doesn’t buy it much. So when I seen this homemade biscotti recipe at “A Worthey Read” I thought I would give it a try and surprise him.

The recipe was for peppermint biscotti, but I didn’t have any peppermint on hand. So I just spread a little extra chocolate on top.

Homemade Biscotti Recipe
Ingredients Needed

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking powder
½ cup milk chocolate chips
1 tsp. salt
6 Tbsp. butter, softened
2 eggs large

Preheat your oven to 375°
Lightly spray a baking sheet

Cream butter & sugar until well mixed.

Add one eggs at a time, and combine.

In a separate bowl mix your flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Add your flour mixture ¼ cup at a time to the wet mixture until you get it all combined.

Fold in your chocolate chips.

Flour your hands, then place dough on the prepared baking sheet, and forming a log shape about 10” long and 4” wide.

Bake for 27-30 minutes, then remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.

Cut your log into ¾” slices and lay each cut side down back on your baking sheet, and place back in the oven.

Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until crisp. I flipped mine over halfway through baking cycle.

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Melt about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave, 30 seconds at a time till melted.

Then drizzle melted chocolate over your biscotti. Mine didn’t want to drizzle so I just spread a little chocolate on each piece of biscotti.

The chocolate will harden as it cools then you can store it in an airtight container.

Have you ever tried making biscotti? It’s a lot easier than I had thought.
