Have you ever needed a mason jar lid that looked weathered for a project that you were working on? Recently I was in need of a weathered lid, so with a little research I found a technique that was easy and worked. So let me show you how I weather a mason jar lid.

Easy Way To Weather A Mason Jar Lid

With a little research I came across a tutorial, and decided that I would give it a try.

Weather A Mason Jar Lid

All you need for this project is Mason jar lid, sandpaper, vinegar, bowl, and paper towel.

First sand your lid. I just gave mine a quick sanding, but I think for a really weathered look you will need to sand it really good. I think that it would get that weathered look a lot quicker too.

Take your sanded Mason jar lid, and drop into a bowl.

Add vinegar, enough to cover your lid.

I found I had to let mine soak longer.

Here is my lid, I had to let it soak three different times to get this weathered appearance. Next one that I do, I will sand the lid a lot better. Like I said before I think it would would weather better and quicker.

You can find the original tutorial at “Carolyn’s Homework“.
