Here’s some easy Saint Patrick’s Day Decor that I was rushing around to get made, so that I would have something for Saint Patrick’s Day to take to the craft mall.
Started out as just one then ended up as three because I forgot the clover should be a four leaf clover to symbolize Good Luck!
I started out with a piece of cedar that I had used my wood aging solution on.
Then I lightly dry brushed some white acrylic paint into the front and sides of the picket.
I used a heart sponge to make my clovers.
When I got ready to stencil the word Lucky I realized my mistake with the clovers on each end.
Luckily my cedar picket was long enough where I was able to cut each end off with the three leaf clovers and still have enough left to add a four leaf clover.
I then connected the clover leafs and added a stem, and now I have two extra Saint Patrick’s Day Decor blocks.
I added my four leaf clover and connected the hearts and add the stem in green then stenciled Lucky in white.
Once dry I went back and stenciled green over the white leaving a little white showing.
That’s how I got three diy Saint Patrick’s Day Decor projects from one. Have you ever made a mistake that turned out better after all?

I love the way it turned out, even the ones with only 3 leaves. π
Thanks Bonnie! I guess my mistake turned out ok. I ended up with three things to take to craft mall instead of two.
This is really cute and perfect for St. Patrick’s Day! I love the wooden sign and shamrocks!
Thank you Celeste! It is a super easy project for St. Patrick’s Day.
Linda, I love the aged wood technique that you use, rustic looks good in almost any decor. I love touches of it in our modern style. Barnwood is so cool, I love that it brings character to anything it’s used for, your signs are elevated to another level!
Thanks Nikki! I love the rustic look and the aged wood solution really makes it quick & easy. Don’t have to sit the wood out in the weather and wait. LOL
BTW, I also love how you fixed the 3 leaf clover problem! I would have probably spent hours sanding it back down, making the piece too time consuming. You just grabbed the saw and rolled right through the issue, quickly and easily! Love it!
Thanks Nikki! Sanding was my first thought, but I was taking the lazy way out and I got two out of it. So that was a win for me.
Ooh, I love that weathered paint look! I don’t think I’ve ever decorated for St. Patrick’s Day, but you’ve inspired me!
Thanks Kimm! I love the weathered wood look too, and pretty much put it on everything.
What a lovely, lucky mistake or three Linda π I’m so glad it all worked out though the sign looks great and it’s perfect fro St Paddy’s day
Thanks Michelle! That was one mistake that worked out ok instead of going in the messed up project pile.
Oh using the heart sponge for the shamrocks is such a cool hack, they look amazing – really clever trick π
Thanks Sarah! So much quicker then painting the shamrocks myself.
These are wonderful. They would also make great coasters.
Thanks Carol! Yes they would. That would be a great project for next year. But in the mean time I could make some for Easter π
What a great idea! So cute! I will have to try it!! thanks for sharing!
Thank you Kimberly! This was a fun and easy project! π
What a great way to make a shamrock! It’s all so cute!
Thank you Danielle!
