I have wanted to redo my kitchen cabinets for quite some time, but was not sure what I wanted. Then I ran across some distressed furniture where they used some paint called chalk paint (not chalk board paint). It is Anne Sloan brand.
It is for Italian style furniture. It is supposedly very durable. And there is no prepping involved. That made it sound even better. You just paint it over the varnish, stain, old paint or whatever.
It just sounded too good to be true. Well I found some in the Dallas area and talked my husband into taking me to get some. It was quite a bit more expensive than I thought it would be, but kept thinking no preparing. So I bought it.
Well I didn’t want to just start painting my cabinets till I seen whether I would like it or not. So I decided to try it out on an old sewing table that we had, and on a solid oak table that was needing a redo, that we bought a couple of years ago at goodwill for our patio.
I’m afraid my pictures didn’t turn out to good, so I hope that you can see them ok.

This is the finished sewing table.
This is the bottom part of the table that I am going to refinish. I forgot to get a picture of it before I flipped it over, so I thought, oh well I can get it when I flip it back over. Oosp I forgot then to. So this is the only picture that I have of the finish of the old table before I applied the chalk paint.
